Frank J Stanek Award |
The
Annual Frank J Stanek Award was originally given to
a deserving member of the Cedar Rapids Bowling Association who demonstrated
their commitment and service to the promotion of bowling. It exemplified the commitment Frank J. Stanek gave to bowling during his time in forming what is
today’s Cedar Rapids Bowling Association. It is not intended for skills on
the lanes, but in persons dedication to the promotion of the game itself. It
replaced what was originally the Man-of-the-Year award which was given out to
an outstanding individual / member of the Cedar Rapids Bowling Association
for their commitment to the promotion and betterment of the game of bowling. |

Frank
J. Stanek, for all practical purposes was the
founder of the Cedar Rapids Bowling Association. He started his career in
1913 at the age of 14. He was so intense on having a local organization for
bowlers to go to for help in organizing leagues and having a local tournament
that he got a few other local bowlers as well as himself to start an
organization to promote the betterment of bowling in the Cedar Rapids
Community. For the first four years, Frank was the President, and Secretary
of that founding group of people.

guide lines and by-laws to govern the organization for the betterment of
