COMMITTEE
REPORTS:
-
Audit
Arden
Schoep presented the report for the committee (in packet). Minor
error that was easily corrected (something in 08’ that was found).
There were a slight concern about the amount of money in the
accounts. This will be brought up in new business.
-
9-Pin
Terri
Carriere- Jennings reported next 9-pin is next weekend at Sports
Bowl, 11-4 on Saturday; 11-2 on Sunday. Hand fliers out at league.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS:
-
Bowl for the Cure Mail in
Tournament- a lot of entries already in; mailed in by 19th.
They have a form now that we type in info and it’s done. Teri will have
info ready for the people at the 9-pin tourney to work on. Teri asked
that the board talk with the bowlers about entering.
-
Youth Bowling-Patti and Keith
are receptive to the help of the Board; Ray is comfortable not being
sanctioned. Kelly hasn’t talked with Bryan yet. We will approach the
recreation departments to see what we can do to increase youth bowlers.
Should have a committee meeting. Loneman suggested advertising on
radio, we will look at the cost. Rec departments could be an
inexpensive way to advertise. Schoep suggested Boys and Girls Club.
McCoy said that she gets a Roland Story School bulletin; we could look
at this. Nevada sends notices out in the water bills, we can see if we
can be included in this. Schools don’t won’t generally help out when it
is not a school function. Kinneer said that you generally need to go
through school PTO’s. Possible send a flier out to all of the
association members via mass email. Adult coaching seems to be the key
because kids have someone to help them. Our past efforts have resulted
in few coaches. Coaches do have to go through the registered volunteer
program. Carsrud recommended a split season for youth. The one thing it
encouraged to TCB was they could commit to one season but not another;
Keith said this doesn’t seem to be an issue in Nevada. Look at Bowler
First program or bring a friend and bowl for free. Kinneer said that
they have bowling in PE, would like to give the teachers something to
give the kids for completion that would relate to going out to the
centers. Schoep suggested getting information to the birthday party
attendees. Kinneer asked that the best help we could give is getting
through the right channels at the schools. Ray would like to get a high
school program going.
Our
angle is the future of our sport, not the profit of the centers.

-
Audit recommendations: Schoep
discussed the amount of money we have in the bank. We are in jeopardy
of losing our tax exempt status unless we earmark or do something with
the money. We aren’t earning interest on the money we do have. Couple
of suggestions: we could pay the High School team house fee of $250.
Could donate at least $1,000 to the prize fund of the association
tourney? 50/50 raffle money is supposed to be donated to a specific
cause, ¾ of it must be specified to a cause.
-
Schoep made a motion, Prescott
2nd to pay the fee for high school team if under $1,000. MCU
-
McPartland made a motion,
Loneman 2nd to put $1,000 toward the 2011 AAUSBC Association
Tournament prize fund pro-rated per division. MCU
