MEETING NOTES;
AMES AREA USBC
President, Greg Knop, called
the
meeting to order at 7:00 pm.
Roll call of officers and
directors was
taken. Present were Story City VP Jake Jacobson, Nevada VP Cheryl
Devore, Ames VP Cari McPartland. Directors present were Jerry
Everett, Deb Robinson, Terri Carriere, Katie Banks, Randy Moore, Jo
Mortvedt and Lowell Crouse. Youth Representatives present were
Aslynne Carriere and Kelly McPartland.
Lowell Crouse made a motion
to approve
the minutes of the previous meeting as presented. Terri Carriere
seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Deb Robinson made a motion
to approve
the treasurer’s report as presented. Terri Carriere seconded the
motion. Motion carried unanimously.
COMITTEE REPORTS
AMES AREA USBC
Cari McPartland gave the Tournament
Committee report. Sponsors for every event have been obtained.
Cari
encouraged everyone to follow up on their list for door prize
donations. There was concerned express about Sports Bowl providing
scorekeepers for the tournament, Cari will get with Keith to express
the board’s concern. At the present time there are 6 teams signed
up, everyone is encouraged to promote the tournament and encourage
people to sign up. Randy will talk to Mark Keller to encourage
participation from bowlers in Jewell.
AMES AREA USBC
Kelly McPartland gave the Youth
Committee report. The singles and doubles tournament is done.
The
trophies will be handed out the week of January 14th. The
Family Doubles Tournament will be held the last weekend in February
at Nevada.
AMES AREA USBC
Membership
Banquet Committee report was
given by Jo Mortvedt. The meeting date has been set for Monday,
March 10, 2008 provided we can find a place to have the meeting. Jo
will be checking on the Moose Lodge availability. The same time frame
will be follow as previous year with Social Hour from 6:00 to 7:00 pm
and supper at 7:00 with meeting to follow. It will be a spaghetti
supper with the proceeds from the dinner to go to the Youth Program.

BUSINESS:
There
was no old business to conduct.
NEW BUSINESS
AMES AREA USBC
Jake Jacobson reported the
reschedule
date for the 9-Pin Tournament will be March 8 & 9 in Nevada.
Arden Schoep presented the
proposal to
change the method of selecting Hall of Fame members for the Ames Area
USBC Bowling Association, with such changes to be incorporated into
the Policy Manual of the association.
Current Categories
One male and one female may
be selected
each year in each of two categories:

Active, under the age of
75

Inactive, deceased or
age 75 and over

Posthumous
Jake Jacobson made a motion
to accept
proposal as presented by Arden. Randy Moore seconded the motion. Motion
carried unanimously.
AMES AREA USBC
Bowl
for the Cure Mail in Tournament
and Bowl for the Cure Cups information was presented by Greg Knop
from information provided by Teri Jennings.
Women’s
State meeting delegates were
tabled.
A
request by Jo Mortvedt as
representative of Team Country Walkers was made to promote the
bowling fundraiser for breast cancer, Bowling for Boobs III, by
selling
T-shirts
and distributing fliers. A
motion was made by Terri Carriere to allow Team Country Walkers to
promote the bowling fundraiser and Katie Banks seconded the motion.
Motion was carried unanimously.
The
next meeting to be held will be
Saturday, February 23 at 9:00 am at 20th Century Bowl in
Ames.
Randy
Moore made a motion that the
meeting be adjourn and Terri Carriere seconded the motion. Motion
carried unanimously.
